ANKARA - Doğan News Agency

On display for one year at the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in Ankara are 25 historical Neolithic Age artifacts unearthed during excavations in Konya's Çatalhöyük district that began in 1993 and that have been brought from the Konya Archaeological Museum.

Çatalhöyük is widely believed to be one of the first human settlements, some 9,000 years ago. Sponsored by the British Boeing Company and led by Professor Lan Hadder for 15 years, excavations have so far unearthed hundreds of artifacts which are now on display at the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations.

The excavations have drawn international attention, says Museum Director Hikmet Denizli, adding, "In accordance with a special agreement between the two museums with the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, 25 artifacts from the Neolithic Age will be on display in a special section in our museum until July 30, 2008."
